Interests and record

  • I am a volunteer with Meet the Parents, bringing Camden secondary and primary parents together since 2013.

  • During the pandemic, I became a founder of the Childs Hill food bank where I regularly volunteer.

  • I have fought against the absolutely awful treatment of A-level and GCSE students during COVID-19.

  • I am an overnight volunteer with Camden Winter Nights Shelter.

  • I have been a committee member of NorthWestTwo residents’ association (Camden, Barnet and Brent) since 2012 - this residents’ association leads on several local arts and community projects across Cricklewood.

  • As an opposition councillor in Barnet, I proposed the declaration of a climate emergency, and am active in preserving local parks. When Labour took control of the council in 2022, we immediately declared a climate emergency, which means that all action taken by the council must now consider the environment.

  • I was a lead campaigner with the save Cricklewood Health Centre campaign. Unfortunately we were unable to save the Cricklewood Health Centre but the GP is located close by on the Brent side of Cricklewood.

  • Between 2005 and 2008 I was a volunteer with Sure Start Kilburn.

  • I am a longstanding campaigner working with End Our Cladding Scandal and others involved with making our built environment safer. As a Councillor, I have worked alongside residents to push for change to building regulation and freehold reform.

  • On the London Assembly, I am a member of the Budget and Performance Committee, the Economy Committee and chair of the Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee.

  • As your London Assembly Member, and the Labour spokesperson for fire and emergency planning, I proposed and passed the Building Safety motion, and have spoken with the Mayor about action that can be taken from City Hall and Government.

  • Working with the Mayor of London and Barnet and Camden Councils, we’ve delivered more affordable and social housing to tackle the housing crisis.

  • I have fought to improve bus services and prevent bus cuts, including the launch of the Superloop and the soon to be launched 310 bus which will add more connectivity to Outer London.

  • As chair of the Fire Committee in City Hall, I’m delivering the investigation into unsafe batteries on e-bikes and e-scooters, to ensure better fire safety for all Londoners.

  • I have worked with the Mayor and the Councils to deliver more police despite the previous Government’s cuts to police. I’m delighted that Keir Starmer is working with Sadiq Khan to rebuild the police and focus on community policing.

  • I have worked to clean up our air and our streets, working with TfL and the local Councils to bring in more electric buses, invest in street cleaning and plant more trees.

  • To help with the cost of living crisis, I’ve campaigned for free school meals for every child in London’s state primary schools along with holiday meals programmes, which the Mayor has now delivered.

  • As your Assembly Member, I continue to do a huge variety of casework for residents across both boroughs - please email me if you have any issues that you need help with!
