About me

Having served you in City Hall since 2021, I was delighted to be re-elected in 2024. It is an honour to be able to continue to serve these two boroughs.

Barnet and Camden mean so much to me. This constituency has been my home for the past twenty years; I've raised my family here, forged friendships and been welcomed into our many diverse communities.

I was born in suburban Chicago and moved to London as a student, before becoming a British citizen in Camden Town Hall in 2007. My husband and I moved to Kilburn in 2001 and our family have lived in Barnet and Camden ever since. Both of my children attended a Camden comprehensive, where I am still a governor, and previously served as Co-Chair of Governors. I also also served as a Barnet primary school governor for 14 years.

As chair of my residents association and a member of the Cricklewood Town Team, I led the campaign to successfully save the green space in the centre of Cricklewood. The Town Team has transformed our local train station from eyesore to pride of place, with community gardens and art work.

In 2018, I was elected to my home ward of Childs Hill in Barnet, as the first Labour councillor in over forty years.

In 2021 I had the honour of being elected to the London Assembly, representing the Barnet & Camden constituency.

In 2023 I joined the Barnet cabinet, and am now cabinet member for Culture, Arts and Sports. On the assembly, I chaired the Fire Committee from 2022 to 2024, and since my re-election in 2024 I continue to lead for the Labour Party on fire.

I always love hearing from residents, and I always make sure I take the time to respond to everyone who reaches out to me. I’m always keen to hear from you about your priorities and concerns and what you think we at City Hall should be focusing on delivering.

What I do

The London Assembly consists of 25 elected members, our role is to to scrutinise the Mayor’s policies and the his annual budget. For more information on the London Assembly and what we do, please have a look here (https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does)

As an assembly member, I meet with residents, businesses, community groups and other elected representatives across the constituency. This can involve everything from community wellbeing, environmental concerns, planning issues referable to the Mayor (typically anything over 100 homes), policing issues and anything related to Transport for London.

I lead for the Labour Party on the Fire Committee and sit on the Economy and Budget Committees where we work to strengthen London’s Economy and ensure we have a Budget fit for London.
